About the Art:
“Life & Death Entangled” is the second color pencil drawing in my Mannequin series. This steampunk laced series uses mannequins to delve into different emotions or emotional subjects. I love the idea of making pieces that are both beautiful and macabre and I think this piece archives that. I also started to incorporate intentional symbolism with this drawing. The mannequin holds her arms out in a questioning manner, because I think both life and death bring up a lot of important questions that everyone should ask. Why am I here? What should I do in life? Where do we go after we die? Another piece of symbolism I put in the piece is her hourglass earing, since our lives are marked with time.
