About the Art:
“Worry” is the eighth drawing in my Mannequin art series. This body of work uses mannequins to demonstrate a variety of emotions and emotionally charged topics. The drawings are often inspired by the steampunk aesthetic and are laden with symbolism that reflects the given topic. “Worry” is no exception. The drawing contains pocket watches, which are often incorporated in steampunk fashion. The clocks are also a representation of the worry and pressure people often feel when they are running out of time or have a deadline. This is explored further by having the top clock double as a grenade. Worry can potentially give someone a sense of danger. In other cases, worry can be paralyzing and make one feel trapped, which is the reason the mannequin is drawn wrapped in chains and barbwire.
